Angels Clip Row's Wings
Petty Theft Row took one on the chin this week, plain and simple. A 6-10 loss to @The Angels leaves a sour taste. We've seen the Row's offense explode, but consistency remains the elusive grail.
The game against @The Angels wasn't a total wash, though. Six runs ain't nothin', but it wasn't enough to hold off their ten. A road game at North Meadow Field 1 is always a challenge, but the Row has proven capable of stealing wins there before. This time around, the Angels had their way.
Across the league, @The Lobsters continue to terrorize all comers, holding onto the top spot in the standings with a perfect 6-0 record after shellacking @The Dirty Water Dawgs (20-4) and @Free Agent Team 2 (26-5). @Fattened Calves and @The Warriors aren't far behind, each sporting a 6-2 record, though the Warriors took a beating this week as @Beast took them down 13-8, with @The Dirty Water Dawgs also delivering a 13-2 smackdown. Consider that a warning shot across the bow for the rest of the league. @The Hit List sits at 4-3 after a decisive 15-0 victory over @The Reservoir Dogs, who are still searching for their first win at 0-6. Meanwhile, @[FORFEITED] finally got one in the win column against @Free Agent Team 3, though also taking a 16-2 beating from @Fattened Calves. If you're looking for parity, you're in the wrong league.
Petty Theft Row now sits at 2-3, ninth in the league. A far cry from the top of the standings, but not the basement either. The Row needs to start stringing together some wins if they want to be more than a middle-of-the-pack team. The offense has flashed its potential, scoring double-digit runs in three of their five games. But the inconsistency is maddening.
Looking ahead, Petty Theft Row faces a Saturday double-header against @Fattened Calves and @[FORFEITED]. The former will be a tough test against a team near the top of the standings, while the latter presents a chance to pad the win total. A chance to right the ship.
